When is Children’s Day in Japan Celebrated?

Hello friends! Today we shall talk about another important holiday in Japan, i.e.,¬†When is Children’s Day in Japan Celebrated? This festival is celebrated on 5th May every year. It will fall on Sunday, 5th May 2019, but officially observed on Monday, 6th May 2019. It has been declared as a public holiday by the Japanese government in 1948.

As the name suggests, this holiday is celebrated to honour the children and celebrate their unique personalities. On this day, families celebrate this festival by praying for the success and good health of their children. Some families still celebrate it in a traditional way by hanging carp streamers and buying samurai dolls. Both of them symbolize strength, power and success in life.

This day marks the need of the Golden Week holiday period in Japan, which starts from 29th April and ends on 5th May, which marks the Children’s Day.
