A gunman open fired in California’s Thousand Oaks bar, killing at least 12 people, including a sheriff’s deputy and many college students. The incident happened on late Wednesday night at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks.
Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said on Thursday that more then a dozen other people were wounded following the incident.”It’s a horrific scene in there. There is blood everywhere,” he said.
Eyewitness say that the gunman open fired at the time when the bar was packed with college students. The bar’s website says it hosts “College Country Night” every Wednesday. Police said hundreds were inside when the shooting occurred. According to the reports of police, hundreds of students were there at the spot at the time of the shooting.
Among the dead is Sergeant Ron Helus, who was with the force for 29 years. He served as the Ventura County sheriff’s Deputy.
The shooter has been identified as a 28 year old former Marine Ian old David Long. According to sources, he died inside the bar during the shootout.
